Camping can begin Friday night. Remember to include some extra funds for those extra nights when the envelope comes for camping fees. Water and wood will be available but not ice. I must emphasize again that absolutely NO WOOD is to be brought to the camp due to the Ash bore problem. There could be serious consequences if wood is brought in.

Memorial Gifts:
Bro. Don Faust was one of three men who have shared in every Northmen meeting. With his passing on to glory we have received gifts in his memory. We thank all of you who have shared in this manner. Bro. Don was a good friend of the Northmen and he had requested that memorials be directed to the Northmen.
Junior Boys Meeting:
We have never set an age limit for those coming to the Northmen. We do suggest the age of five. Boys five through 12 meet in Junior sessions each morning and then have directed recreation in the afternoon. These sessions are handled by camp or congregational groups who volunteer to take a session. We still have some openings if your group would be interested. A parable will be assigned for each session (two each morning) and the leaders develop a study of that parable with any method they choose.
Jr. boys need to bring their bikes. The 2nd annual Jr.Northmen bike rodeo will be held during one of the afternoon recreational periods. Prizes are given winners of various events. Bikes can be ridden in camp if such is done with caution.
Teen Meetings:
Boys 13 through 18 meet for their sessions during both the morning and afternoon sessions. Randy Peasley of Sault Ste. Marie will be leading those programs this summer. Speakers are chosen who can share a message of challenge and instruction for these growing soldiers of our Lord. Some of this years messengers to the teens are: Terry Strickler, Mason, MI; Steve Leaming, Holt, MI; and Mike Babcock, Kalkaska, MI.
The annual canoe trip on the Manistee River will be Thursday afternoon. Cost for this is about $25. This is for teens only and is directed by men capable of leading such a trip. Boys wanting to share in this trip must pre-sent a permission slip to do so. This can come from parents or guardians. If you are bringing boys be sure you have medical release permission from their parents or guardian.

Getting Information:
We will answer any inquiry you send our way. Our major means of getting information to you is e-mail. We have a lengthy list and we try to let you know when we have put new info up. Some of you need to adjust your spam sorter so our mail will come through. Our snail mail list is around 1000. We will keep anyone on that list who so desires. If you do not have e mail we will gladly add you to this list. We will add any new names to either list. Please let us know when you change your address.
Camping needs:
We have ice, wood and milk available at our cost. Water is from one tested well. You will need water carriers. You need shelter (it can get cool) and your meals. We list a few things to consider for your primitive camping situation. Lanterns, (no electric is available), fire starter, dishes, cooking utensils, chairs, table, plastic for awnings, sleeping bags, shovel, rake, hatchet, bug dope, jackets, rain gear, food for meals, dish washing needs, maybe a stove, rope, flashlights, and probably some things we have forgotten here. Do not bring any wood. This is an absolute no no and the DNR will be checking.
It is 12 miles to the nearest store and gas provider. Come to the woods prepared (full tanks) and all your food.
Camping Cost:
We use state land for the meeting. Permits are given and we collect a fee for your camping. That fee and insurance will be included in a fee of $3 per person for the meeting. Each camp will collect these fees and get them to the designated place. We will provide envelopes and camp tags for this collection. Our use of the property is on a year to year basis. The Northmen will continue as the property is available for our use.
The overall meeting costs generally run about $15 per person in attendance. We take offerings each evening session. All such offerings go to the cost of the Northmen meeting.
Camping sites:
Camping is first come first served. Sites are not marked nor reserved. Choose your site and set up. There is room for motor homes, fifth wheels, fold downs, tents and etc. The DNR says no camping within 100 foot of the creek. We will try to have areas too close to the creek marked.
Remember!
No smoking, no fire works, all fires in a pit. Never leave a fire unattended. Douse you fire pit well when leaving. No firearms, knives and hatchets carefully policed. No green material to be cut in any circumstances. Leave your site as you find it. Police it carefully. ORVs can be used off the campsite. Trails nearby. Bicycles are to be used prudently. First aid material is available.
Bringing boys? Please maintain good discipline. We ask all men and boys to be in all sessions.
Quiet time begins at 10 each evening.
Funds:
Northmen ministries functions with the aid of Gods people for its financial needs. We do not have the funds to present this program without your help. Last years meeting did not provide for its cost. We appreciate any help you might give as we begin to spend funds for this summer. Checks should be made out to the Northmen and mailed to the address found on this page.
CDs and tapes of all Northmen sessions are available for purchase. CLICK HERE
Housing:
Camping in other areas is available. Wilderness Camp provides camping and some cabin space. Cost is nominal. Phone: 231 258 7916. Motel lists from Grayling or Kalkaska can be obtained from the respective Chambers of Commerce.
